Alcuni giorni fa, i Carabinieri della Sezione Operativa della Compagnia di Foggia, coadiuvati dalle “gazzelle” del 112, nell’ambito delle attività finalizzate al controllo del territorio, hanno effettuato una perquisizione domiciliare in un immobile ubicato nel quartiere “Ferrovia” dove sono stati rinvenuti 54 reperti archeologici risalenti presumibilmente al periodo tra il VI e III secolo a.c. del valore complessivo di circa 15000 euro consistenti in olle, brocche e piccoli vasi in terracotta oltre a 15 monete e una medaglia d’oro risalenti al periodo tra il IV secolo a.c. e il XX secolo per un valore complessivo che oscilla tra i 5000 e gli 8000 euro. 

Fondamentale è stata la collaborazione con il personale della Sovraintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio per le province di Foggia e Barletta-Andria-Trani, che ha qualificato quanto rinvenuto dai militari dell’Arma “d’interesse storico-archeologico” e con un importante esperto in numismatica, che ha permesso di inquadrare il materiale in un preciso arco cronologico e di fare una stima del suo valore economico.  I due coniugi sono stati immediatamente deferiti all’Autorità Giudiziaria per la violazione dell’art. 176 del decreto legge 42/2004 (impossessamento illecito di beni culturali appartenenti allo Stato) mentre quanto sequestrato verrà affidato in custodia al personale della Sovraintendenza in attesa della definizione dell’iter processuale.
