La Puglia è al secondo posto della classifica nazionale dell’illegalità ambientale con 3.600 infrazioni, con lo smaltimento illegale dei rifiuti è diventata una delle principali attività delle ecomafie. E’ quanto denuncia Coldiretti Puglia, in riferimento agli oltre 100 mila metri cubi di rifiuti, costituiti principalmente da materiali inerti derivanti dalla demolizione di edifici, illecitamente sversati su un’area sottoposta a vincolo paesaggistico, all’interno del Parco naturale regionale “Lama Balice’ a Bitotono in provincia di Bari.

Lo smaltimento illegale dei rifiuti in Puglia fa registrare il 28,7% delle infrazioni accertate nel ciclo dei rifiuti sul totale nazionale, secondo i dati dell’Osservatorio sulla criminalità nell’agricoltura e sul sistema agroalimentare promosso da Coldiretti che riferisce come, sulla base degli accertamenti della magistratura, negli ultimi 20 anni in Puglia siano stati sversati, tombati o bruciati rifiuti di ogni genere.

“E’ inaccettabile che le aree rurali vengano utilizzate come discariche a cielo aperto, depauperando un territorio curato e produttivo, inquinando la terra e il sottosuolo, arrecando un danno ingente all’imprenditore agricolo che spesso è chiamato a rimuovere i rifiuti sversati da altri, se non riesce a dimostrare di non averli prodotti.  Si tratta di un fenomeno grave ed in escalation, dove a sversare rifiuti di ogni genere non sono più soltanto i gruppi criminali, ma anche residenti che scaricano nelle aree rurali ogni genere di rifiuto, oltre a materiale edilizio abbandonato dalle ditte, senza il minimo rispetto della proprietà privata degli agricoltori e arrecando un danno ambientale e di immagine incalcolabile”, è la denuncia di Savino Muraglia, presidente di Coldiretti Puglia.

Di fronte alle emergenze che si rincorrono – continua la Coldiretti regionale – occorre adottare tutti gli accorgimenti a tutela della sicurezza e della salute, accertare le responsabilità e avviare le necessarie azioni di risarcimento danni diretti ed indiretti a favore delle comunità e delle imprese colpite. Sul piano strutturale – conclude la Coldiretti Puglia – occorre salvaguardare le aree a vocazione agricola, evitando l’autorizzazione di insediamenti potenzialmente a rischio e proteggendole con i controlli da quelli abusivi.
